Ostensibly the most successful (and long-running) of the Full Moon Entertainment franchises, the “Puppet Master” series is off to a bad start with this tame, poorly edited and rather boring first entry. The famous musical score manages to make an impression early on, as do the puppet designs and the overall unique premise, but ultimarely the movie never seems to really get going, helped not at all by ineffectual leading man Paul Le Mat (of “American Graffiti”), who seems lost and befuddled in his role.
