Roseanne (Season 4) (1991)

This is the season where the inherent economic difficulties of the show’s concept – namely, the lives of a working-class, low-income family – become its underlying theme, with the Conners experiencing further and further financial stresses while balancing raising teenage children. The performances by Roseanne herself and John Goodman reach deep and maintain a sense of weary humor throughout, with strong support from all the supporting performers as well as consistently great writing.
