Despite a terrific concept and a unique villain, somehow “Shakma” comes down to repetitive scenes of a baboon throwing itself against various doors and Christopher Atkins running down many, many hallways, repeated ad nauseum. It’s a shame that the film also wastes the talents of genre darlings Roddy McDowell and Amanda Wyss (Tina in the original “Nightmare on Elm Street”), who have little to do while playing second fiddle to Atkins, whose good looks don’t do much to distract from his limited acting abilities.
