A peculiar horror vehicle, this quasi-slasher entry has more in common with serious, evocative thrillers of the 1970s than it does the slasher trend of the 1980s. Mixing the conventions of slashers with those of post-war dramas and thrillers, director Andrew Davis crafts a unique, albeit extremely low-budget exploration of the impacts of wartime combat on military veterans without succumbing to excessive violence or histrionics. With early performances by Daryl Hannah, Joe Pantoliano, Rachel Ward and Adrian Zmed, it’s really a unique horror film that deserves at least one viewing for horror fans.
