Even more than thirty years after its premiere, “The Golden Girls” is still one of the best sitcoms ever made. Combining the strengths of four priceless lead performances and top-notch writing, NBC managed to launch something just about unique at the time: A show about single, older women who have active social lives and fulfilling careers. It’s a simple yet unheard of concept that yielded a long-running sitcom and made television superstars out of its four leads. This is classic network television at its finest.
