Don’t Think Twice (2016)

While improv comedy is not for everyone (myself included), this sharp, insightful and well-acted comedy-drama manages to make the topic compelling and palatable, combining it as it does with the various whims and career aspirations of its likable, relatable characters. While on the surface it’s about what it means to be an improv performer in New York City (including having to prep for the ever-present specter of “Weekend Live,” an obvious reference to “Saturday Night Live” and how much power it yields over up-and-coming comedy performers), it ultimately ends up being about friendship, the power of growing up, and knowing when to walk away.
