Roseanne (Season 6) (1993)

Season 6 of the classic show continues a trend first introduced in the previous season, namely that of Roseanne Barr’s ever-problematic off-screen persona becoming more central to the fabric of “Roseanne.” Her radically altered physical appearance here is matched only by how much the character has changed, having become unpleasant and strident along the way, defined more and more by Barr’s increasingly unpredictable and peculiar whims. It’s clear that the writers were often at a loss and a result, the season is often joyless and strained, but luckily the supporting cast remains as strong as ever, even as the show gives them less to do.
