Sia – 1000 Forms of Fear (2014)

While Sia had been around as a solo artist for years, this was the album that propelled her to unlikely superstardom as a radio staple. With such terrific, intense smashes as “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart” as well as its lesser-known but excellent companions like “Fire Meet Gasoline” and “Eye of the Needle,” this album is one of the best of its kind. Sia’s voice is powerful and compelling, while her lyrics and concepts are original and unpredictable. This is by no means a traditional mainstream album, shepherded as it is by a unique, powerful performer who keeps her listeners on their toes from beginning to end.
