Light as a feather, this mainstream Hollywood comedy is somewhat akin to cotton candy: It’s pleasant and easily digestible, but there’s nothing substantive about it. Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler seem like there’s having fun in roles they could do in their sleep, but it’s Jason Mantzoukas who steals scenes left and right, thanks to a manic comedic energy not unlike the Tazmanian Devil. This is the kind of hard-R Hollywood comedy that goes down easy and has no memorable moments or jokes, but is a lot of fun anyways and, at a quick ninety minutes, doesn’t overstay its welcome. You could do a lot worse.
