It’s here that NBC’s juggernaut of a hit lost a bit of its mojo. Sure, it has several terrific moments and it still has the benefit of Steve Carell’s consistently electrifying performance as Michael Scott. However, there’s something missing this time around, with many of the established characters becoming comedic types instead of the fully-fleshed people we knew before while the writing gradually falls victim to pratfalls and other sitcom tropes. That being said, there’s still plenty of laughs to be had here, and with a such a strong cast there’s always something worth watching happening, but it falls short of the previous seasons.
