One of the tamest, most tepid seasons of this formerly edgy and confrontational show. There’s nothing exactly wrong with it: It’s got the same wit as before (albeit a little diluted) and strong voice work from a cast of professionals, and it’s never too afraid to go for broke with its storylines to keep things interesting. But the jokes mostly seem forced this time around, and the writing isn’t so much funny as much as it’s casually amusing and forgettable. Maybe “Family Guy” is starting to run out of steam or maybe it’s just a pale season, but whatever it is there aren’t many standout episodes or jokes to be found here.
Rating: ★★★ (out of 5)
