Probably the best season of SyFy’s extraordinarily scary true-life show, Season 2 is filled with bone-chilling episodes like “Man in the Attic, “Lady on the Stairs,” and “Fox Hollow Farm” that manage to burrow their way undo your skin before you know it. The special effects are fine, but really this is all about the writing and sound: The dialogue feels surprisingly natural and candid, and the way the show employs sound effects manages to establish an underlying, ever-present mood of dread and inevitability. Watch for the Travis Walton story, told here in “The Abduction,” which represents some of the show’s most effective writing, acting and direction, and grabs the viewer by the throat and refusing to let go. Highly recommended for horror fans.
