Despite Katy Perry’s natural charm, her strong musical catalog and her stage presence, there’s something notably missing from this recording of her 2015 Prismatic World Tour. Maybe it’s that the colorful costumes start to blend together after a while, maybe it’s that the dance routines are rather uninspired, or maybe it’s just that Perry doesn’t do a whole lot of singing here, relying on backing tracks to do most of the heavy lifting. Whatever it is, the show feels about twice as long as it is, and by the time it gets to its second half it’s noticeably dragging, with an overemphasis on silliness and weird, unfunny comedy to fill in the blanks missing from the otherwise colorful extravaganza. This is perhaps for Katy Perry die-hards only, but as a passive fan I found it fairly lacking.
