Even better than the terrific first season, Season 2 of HBO’s unique show is one of a few shows where all the elements come together perfectly. The performances are razor-sharp, with none better than Julia Louis-Dreyfus, with strong assist from Anna Chlumsky and Tony Hale, among many others. The writing is jagged, pointed and extraordinarily layered, not unlike some of the rapid-fire joke gunfights on NBC’s “Community,” and the direction and editing manage to function seamlessly while setting the tone for each scene. It’s a pleasure to watch from beginning to end.
