“Reality Bites” is one of those movies where the soundtrack is just as important as the movie itself. From the opening chords of The Knack’s “My Sharona” to the rising Big Mountain cover of Peter Frampton’s “Baby, I Love Your Way” that closes the album, this is a joy from beginning to end. Of course there’s Lisa Loeb’s “Stay (I Missed You)” which is still just as catchy as it ever was, along with other tracks like Squeeze’s “Tempted” and World Party’s “When You Come Back to Me,” it’s sure to bring back a flood of memories for Gen X’ers. Overall this is up there with the soundtracks for “The Big Chill” and “William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet” in that it reveals just how much the finished movie is branded by its terrific and carefully selected music.
