Watching the first few episodes of this blockbuster sitcom, it’s hard not to notice that the show seems to have premiered as though it had already been on for years: The dynamics are clearly established, the settings are immediately recognizable, and there’s an abundance of charisma among the cast, not to mention chemistry galore. While some of the performances are a little painful to watch (Laura Prepon and Mila Kunis, in particular, don’t seem particularly comfortable with comedic delivery), there’s so much energy and enthusiasm for the show radiating from the screen that it’s impossible not to get swept along. Early episodes like “Eric’s Birthday” and “Streaking” help the show hit the ground running thanks to their impressively intricate writing, while later episodes like “Ski Trip” and “First Date” further the dynamics among the characters without threatening to overwhelm the audience in minutiae or unnecessary details. It’s a great show to rewatch over and over.
