While it has nothing to do with the original Michael Myers movies, “Halloween 3” is a pretty good horror entry in its own right. Dependable genre favorite Tom Atkins is well cast here, as he embarks on a nightmarish journey to uncover a conspiracy to mass-murder children on Halloween night that includes cursed masks, shadowy conspiracy theories and Stonehenge. It’s absolutely bonkers from the get-go, and benefits from some great visuals (like the opening credits) and an unnerving use of sound, not to mention the infamous “Silver Shamrock” ditty that burrows its way into the brain. It’s an effective B-horror entry that likely would have a better reputation were it not remembered primarily as the non-Michael Myers entry in the “Halloween” series, but as it is, it’s worth a fair shot by horror fans.
