Taking on Mariah Carey’s notorious bomb of a starring vehicle seems like a natural fit for the Rifftrax gang, but somehow the elements don’t come together this time. Riffers Mary Jo Pehl and Mike Nelson don’t seem to be on the same page for much of the movie’s running time, and the lack of chemistry between them makes it sound like they recorded their commentaries separately. In addition, “Glitter” itself isn’t all that much fun to watch: Sure, it’s a bad movie, but it’s mostly just mediocre, bland and overlong, so it’s not as much fun as one would think. Overall this is likely the only Rifftrax I haven’t really liked, and “Glitter” itself is not quite the so-bad-it’s-good “crapsterpiece” it’s been made out to be.
