Although it’s hard not to notice the significantly reduced budget and the constraints of network television standards, this direct sequel to the underrated 1975 original is a blast to watch from beginning to end. There are a few changes from the mythology in the original but it’s all in good, cheesy fun. What really makes the whole movie so much fun to watch is the participation of a star-studded cast, with Sharon Gless, Julie Kavner and Don Johnson delivering surprisingly dedicated, compelling performances. Kavner, in particular, is arresting from her first scene onwards, while Gless makes a likable, resourceful heroine. It’s certainly not for discerning viewers, but those who enjoy pop culture obscurities and early 1980s television standards will find plenty to appreciate here.
