South Park (Season 3) (1999)

From the first episode of this season, “Rainforest Schmainforest,” it’s clear that creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker have doubled down on the more confrontational, flippant aspects of their Comedy Central sitcom. For the rest of the season, anything and everything that can be considered politically correct is skewered seemingly for its own sake, and while there’s an off-putting immaturity at play, it still provides for a number of downright hilarious episodes. “The Succubus,” “Tweek vs. Craig” and “Two Guys Naked in a Hot Tub” are among the many highlights this season, and while the show revels in its negativity, there’s certainly an audience for its kind of irreverence.
