Porky’s (1981)

The ongoing commercial success of this lame Canadian comedy is proof that folks will watch just about anything if there’s a promise of nudity and sex. There’s really not a whole lot of “movie” to this movie: It’s basically just a series of repetitive pranks that high school students play on each other and others in the 1950s, while periodically facing off with the sleazy owner of a local strip club. There are a few touches of tolerant-positive humor here and there, but so much of the humor is forced that it ends up feeling like something close to a “Police Academy” movie. Towards the climax there’s an attempt at something approximating a plot, but it comes too late to rescue the movie.
