It pains me to admit but I found this live Rifftrax occasionally hard to finish. It’s a double-whammy of bad news: “Mothra” itself, released during the “Godzilla” craze of the late 1950s and early 1960s, is an incomprehensible snooze to sit through. The titular monster is absent until the last ten minutes or so, and even then its appearance is underwhelming to say the least. On the way there we’re instead stuck with a strange plot about two tiny singing princesses stolen from their land, and it’s all just mind-meltingly bizarre and boring. In addition, the Rifftrax gang doesn’t seem quite up to snuff on this one, with long stretches of silence and few good jokes to fill in the excruciating running time.
