“South Park” continues to be hit-or-miss with me, very much so. There’s a similar, vituperative edge to Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s animated sitcom to Seth MacFarlane’s “Family Guy”: There are a number of great jokes, characters and plotlines in various episodes, but occasionally there’s a line or joke so nasty and mean-spirited that it completely takes me out of the experience. Here, there are some great episodes like “The Tooth Fairy’s Tats 2000” and “Cartman Joins NAMBLA,” but it’s episodes like “Cartman’s Silly Hate Crime” that rail in favor of prejudice, which is perplexing to say the least and leave a bad taste in my mouth. To recap: Great moments, but overall it’s a difficult show to love.
