An American Werewolf in Paris (1997)

This alleged sequel to 1981’s classic “An American Werewolf in Paris” is just about the worst case scenario for a horror sequel: The story is a barely disguised retread of the first movie, there are no connections to the original story or characters, the screenplay is ludicrous, the special effects are marginal at best, and the lead character is both dull and sketchy. Tom Everett Scott has a natural boy-next-door charisma that can be charming at times, but in this vehicle his character is basically a criminal harassment complaint just waiting to happen. It makes for an unpleasant viewing experience, with the audience firmly planted in opposition to the main character, while the movie itself just kicks the can from one bad scene to another until the whole thing finally, mercifully ends.
