Stuck somewhere between a mainstream blockbuster and a typically lazy Adam Sandler vehicle, “Anger Management” is an ignominious waste of Jack Nicholson and Marisa Tomei, but feels about right for Sandler. Although he occasionally comes close to delivering a comedic performance, Sandler is basically on hand to look befuddled, make baby voices, and wander through the proceedings like he doesn’t care about any of it at all, because the movie was destined to be a hit regardless of its content. That disinterest in even basic narrative structure and flow makes watching the movie frustrating, like the filmmakers care about it as little as Sandler does, and the two-hour running time quickly becomes preposterous on the way to an egregiously stupid climax (with a terribly unfortunate cameo by Rudy Giuliani). For the life of me I can’t figure out why anybody likes Adam Sandler movies.
