This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire Netflix revival of “Mystery Science Theater 3000.” The movie it features, 1979’s “The Day Time Ended,” is exactly the type of bad-movie I love the most: It’s perplexing as all hell, but it’s also weirdly charming and it’s definitely entertaining in a baffling sort of way. The acting is downright negligible, but the set design is striking and the special effects are fascinating despite looking like they cost about three dollars total. The MST3K gang seems to really enjoy digging into this one, and there are a number of admittedly juvenile jokes that had me laughing out loud. The MST3K wrap-around continues to be effectively condensed, and Patton Oswalt’s enthusiasm for the show is just as palpable as ever.
