Susanna Fogel’s spy comedy is a surprising delight. Despite a two-hour running time, the movie doesn’t feel overstuffed, as it goes from exciting set piece to exciting set piece, and while it’s never exactly laugh-out-oud funny it’s still entertaining from beginning to end. There’s a lot of affectionate chemistry between co-leads Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon, who make an impressively engaging pair as they navigate an international spy plot. There’s an occasionally jarring amount of violence throughout that suggests that anything could happen at any time, and the movie manages to deliver on that promise a number of times. The supporting cast is effective as well, in particular Ivana Sakhno, who has a striking screen presence and contributes to making the movie a great deal of fun.
