King of the Hill (Season 6) (2001)

Mike Judge’s “King of the Hill” is one of those shows that hit its stride early on, and managed to keep up the momentum far into its run. In this sixth season, there are a number of stand-out, series-best episodes: For instance, season opener “Bobby Goes Nuts” features some of the show’s funniest moments so far, thanks to a number of quotable lines (“That’s my purse! I don’t know you!”). Other episodes, like “Soldier of Misfortune” and “The Father, the Son and J.C.” tackle the complicated relationship between Hank and his father, and by extension manages to further develop the characters in a meaningful, insightful way. Along the way, there are a number of extraordinarily funny moments, and it’s nice to see that the show somewhat softens and loosens Hank, in particular in “Sug Night,” which has some of the season’s most memorable one-liners.
