Fans of “Jackass” and “Bad Grandpa” will find plenty to love here, but casual audiences need not bother. After all, the movie that surrounds the hilarious stunts seems barely existent: There is literally no character development, almost no plot or conflict, the screenplay is negligible, and there are few jokes along the way. This is more an excuse to perform hilarious, dangerous “Jackass”-style stunts, and lead Johnny Knoxville seems to be having a blast torturing his own body, limping from scene to scene (sometimes literally) with a devilish, child-like grin on his face. It’s actually so threadbare that one almost wishes the filmmakers hadn’t bothered to make a movie and instead let its daredevil cast loose in a rickety amusement park and filmed them getting hurt. So, it’s definitely not for discerning audiences and it has nothing to say about anything, but it has its moments of laugh-out-loud comedy that lean in to the movie’s lowest-common denominator appeal.
