This strong second season for the criminally underrated show manages to continue the show’s overall narrative while also establishing its own plotline, and the finished product is compelling and unpredictable. With the main narrative unfurling on a mysterious remote island, the season is instantly distinct and unique, introducing a number of new characters that are impressively well-developed, in particular John Cho’s Andy, who quickly becomes the show’s anchor. Leads Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels are electrifying every step of the way, with Daniels in particular having a number of monologues that could peel the paint off the walls, and they’re surrounded with a terrific supporting cast. Admittedly there are a few hokey moments here and there thanks to some occasionally cheesy special effects, but it’s easy to forgive when everything else works so well.
