Eight seasons in, it’s maybe unsurprising that “Bob’s Burgers” isn’t quite as funny as it used to be. Maybe that’s because the humor has become more familiar, but it’s noticeable that these episodes aren’t as laugh-out-loud funny as the previous seasons. Now, the good news: It’s only in comparison with its own other seasons that this season feels a tad underwhelming, because as it is, it’s still extremely entertaining and charming. The voice work is still one of the best parts of the show, with each character imbued with a distinct identity and quirks that manage to incorporate the extraordinary writing and strong vocal delivery into a cohesive whole, while the borderline-crude animation maintains its homegrown charm. A rare Halloween episode, “The Wolf of Whalf Street,” is a stand-out thanks to an effective mood and some pretty strong lines, and there are episode highlights like “Sit Me Baby One More Time” and “Thanks-Hoarding” that manage to further the already-established dynamics among all the well-written and developed characters.
