One of the comic’s many, many Bravo specials, “Whores on Crutches” has its moments, but overall it’s a bit of a slog sometimes. Mind you, Griffin can tell a story like no one else can, and has a natural facility with conversational humor which makes her a personable comic like almost no other. However, much of her material here finds itself after her commercial ascent following her Bravo reality show, which means that she’s far more careful whom she discusses during the special, and what we’re left with are diatribes about shows like “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” and “My Dog Ate What?” that are more amusing than funny, and she has a tendency to beat a few dead horses here. So for returning fans, it’s more of the same albeit tamer, and for newcomers, it doesn’t showcase the comedian’s finer work.
