The third and final season of this continuation of the “Evil Dead” movie series feels like the perfect final act for its internal universe. Bruce Campbell remains the heart and soul of the series thanks to his combination of self-deprecation and go-for-broke comedic sensibilities not unlike the Three Stooges, and he’s still surrounded by a first-rate supporting cast of characters that are both likable and extraordinarily self-reliant. Additionally, the show has a knack for throwing everything it can think of at the audience without ever feeling like it’s overloaded or trying too hard, and there’s enough blood and guts to satisfy even the most grizzled gore hound. It’s astounding how entertaining and fast-paced each episode is, like a runaway train screaming towards its conclusion with urgency and focus, and all ten episodes are over before you know it. I’ll admit I was a bit disappointed by the last few minutes of the series finale, mostly because I’m not 100% sure I understood it, but it’s such a minor drawback when everything that’s come before has been so well structured and lovingly assembled.
